These crazy cold temperatures have been keeping everyone inside this week. While staying home can start out fun, being trapped inside can quickly have you going stir crazy! Fend off your cabin fever with these 53 ideas!

  1. Watch Frozen. Appreciate the beauty of snow and ice from the warm interior of your home!
  2. Embrace a classroom classic and cut your own paper snowflakes!
  3. Play Candyland. That’s still around, right?
  4. Build a fort. The more blankets, the better!
  5. Create your own indoor obstacle course. Have your kids compete for the fastest time!
  6. Make your own play-dough and select a common object for everyone to make. The variations of the same piece should be interesting!
  7. Have a photo-shoot. Tell your kids to dress up and let them be your models! They will love striking poses, and you will love having silly, updated pictures!
  8. Find a coloring book and unwind while staying in the lines!
  9. Bring out your inner actor and play charades.
  10.  Pull out your favorite childhood books and have a reading party!
  11.  Keep your mind sharp and put together a puzzle!
  12.  Bring the outdoors into your home! Put snow in a bowl and have sensory play at your table!
  13.  Play the alphabet game. Go around in a circle naming objects with each letter, have each person repeat the list and continue adding until the alphabet is complete!
  14.  Treat yourself. Make cookies.
  15.  Grab your deck of cards and play Go Fish.
  16.  Start cleaning before spring. Organize your closet.
  17.  Be a scientist. Take different liquids outside and see if they freeze!
  18.  Have a chilly treat. Ice cream sundaes for snack!
  19.  Become pilots. Create paper airplanes and see which one goes the furthest.
  20.  Shake your tail feather. Have a dance party!
  21.  Find your flexible side. Do a yoga workout with your family!
  22.  Sometimes ice can be nice. Put food coloring in your ice cube trays and then color with the ice once it’s frozen!
  23.  Encourage kindness. Make cards for the loved ones in your life!
  24.  Build your own pyramids with plastic cups! See who can build the tallest one!
  25.  Be brave. Let your children do your make-up or hair!
  26.  Start a game of bowling. Fill water bottles, find a ball, and you are set!
  27.  Play I-Spy in the comfort of your living room!
  28.  Interview your children and document their answers! You will love reflecting on these answers years later!
  29.  Host your own spelling bee!
  30.  Have blind-folded taste tests. See if everyone can guess the food!
  31.  Create collages from old magazines of favorite things.
  32.  Write letters to yourself. Save them and open five years from now!
  33.  There is beauty in simplicity. Play tic-tac-toe!
  34.  Create a scavenger hunt. Have children compete to find the items first!
  35.  Have target practice with a Nerf gun!
  36.  Test the agility in your family. Create a laser maze in your hallway with streamers!
  37.  Form a band. Make instruments with common household items!
  38.  Dream of the warmer days to come. Have a picnic on the floor!
  39.  Play an old-fashioned game of Simon Says.
  40.  Bring out the balloons and play volleyball!
  41.  Teach the value of giving. Find toys to donate!
  42.  Keep warm with a bath. Bonus: Put glow-sticks in the water for added fun!
  43.  Create a hopscotch game with masking tape!
  44.  Paint without the mess! Put paint in a Ziploc bag and let your kids go crazy!
  45.  Fend off the winter germs. Take time to disinfect toys!
  46.  Search Pinterest and make a new craft!
  47.  Get ahead of the game. Meal plan for the next few weeks!
  48.  Design your own mini-golf course!
  49. Place bowls at different distances and give them point values. Toss a ball and find out who can score the most in a minute!
  50.  Test your flexibility. Play a game of Twister!
  51.  Practice self-care. Have a spa day!
  52.  Have a fashion show. Give your kids a theme and have them model the outfits they pick!
  53. Take a nap. Because sleep, am I right?

Hopefully these suggestions help you fend off the cabin fever! Only 141 more days until summer!
