Background: I am originally from Jefferson, WI. I met my wife, Katrina, at Lakeside Lutheran High School, but we didn’t start dating until college. After freshman year, we started our family, but we continued to work through both of our degrees. We have lived in various communities in Southern Wisconsin while pursuing my engineering career path. Katrina does a fantastic job of managing our home and home-schooling each of our children. My professional experience is in structural engineering, information marketing, and leadership development. God continues to bless us abundantly.
Family details: Wife, Katrina; Daughters, Grace (10) and Noel (7); Sons, Josiah (5) and James (5) Job position: Structural Design Engineer for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Job responsibilities: Structural design of highway structures. Volunteer efforts: Currently a facilitator for an in-home sermon-based bible study group. I also have served in the areas of Youth ministry, Various church boards and committees Time on board: Since January 2014 Reason you’re on the board (interest): A doctor recommended killing our first child. Should be enough said, but I’m more wordy than that. In our country, if a woman expresses concern over a pregnancy, she is encouraged to kill her child. That statement should be enough to rally every Christian in the U.S. in an outcry against this atrocity, but the response is a faint murmur. I hear comments like, “Well, we know things will continue to get worse until the end” and “We don’t know, God might work salvation outside of His word and sacraments.” We justify our lack of action and satiate ourselves with distorted truth from our media. We forget that we are God’s love manifest on this earth to do His will and fight against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. What good is salt if it loses its saltiness? What good is a soldier who loses the will to fight? Christians are obvious messengers of God’s word, reaching out to lost souls; loving everyone. I don’t know of any more critical area of ministry than extending God’s love to those whose time of grace is so short. The means of salvation that God gives us are His word and baptism. These children do not have the opportunity for either. In 2013, almost 6,500 children lost their lives to abortion in WI; over 2,500 in Milwaukee County alone. We have numerous churches and schools in the area considering multi-million dollar capital improvements to their facilities. And WLFL struggles to fund a budget of less than $350k. I am reminded of the false prophets of Jeremiah 6:14 proclaiming, “peace, peace” when there is no peace. At least not for many unborn children. God help us. Hobbies: I enjoy reading and studying books, writing, teaching and discussion, running and playing sports, associating with positive people, playing with my children, and loving my wife. I am also trying to figure out the real estate market in Madison (looking for a house we can afford, but also have enough space to foster parent). Additional comments: Katina wrote “My Storm” for Forward in Christ which gives some insight into our early years together. What I hope to achieve as Chairman: As much as God enables me. I want to know everyone and everything WLFL does, and find ways to do it better. Specifically, this year, we should dramatically increase funding and awareness for our cause. We should also see a significant increase in volunteers and abortion-minded clients. In the background, Peter and the Board of Directors need to establish/revamp a lot of organizational processes and strategic planning. There is a lot of work to do, but it's all worth it to save one more life. |
