Give a gift to restore Joy!
Her face lights up as you hand her your gift. Unexpected! Her delight is almost tangible! Joy fills your heart!
Christmas is a time of that kind of joy! The joy and anticipation in the faces of children. The joy of family gatherings, traditions, giving and receiving gifts. The deep joy of knowing Jesus came as the Babe in Bethlehem.
One can imagine a story about a girl named Ivy who grows up in a large family that loved celebrating Christmas. But it has been years since Ivy has felt “Christmas joy.”
Christmas is a time of unexpected surprises!
Years ago Ivy found herself pregnant. She and her boyfriend were young. It was unexpected, unwelcome news. Ivy was terrified to tell her parents. She imagined the worst.
Her friends told her to take care of it secretly. They said no one would find out. The problem would just go away. Together they made a plan. Ivy made a sad choice to abort her baby. The choice her boyfriend didn’t want her to make. He wanted their child and was ready to man up.
Ivy and her boyfriend did not stay together. They could not overcome the effects of the abortion. The sadness, disappointment, and anguish.
December has been a time of pain and sadness for her. That’s when she’d had the abortion. The feelings of loss and sadness are always more pronounced at this time.
It has been years since Ivy’s abortion. She doesn’t have any children. There is little joy or wonder in Ivy’s Christmas celebrations. Just the memory of her own tragic decision.
You give Christmas Joy in Jesus to people like Ivy!
Your support can provide women, like Ivy, healing from their past. Women like Carol and Joyce who found that joy is not dependent on their feelings. It is not based on past decisions, family gatherings, traditions, giving and receiving gifts, or seeing joy and wonder in the faces of children.
True Christmas Joy is found in the greatest gift ever given. The birth of Jesus, the Savior. The wonder of “God with us,” the joy of Jesus taking our place and giving us his righteousness. We pray that in time, more women, like Ivy, will realize the joy of renewal in Jesus’ love.
